19-year-old killed in midnight Montgomery shooting

Montgomery police and medics responding to a report of a shooting at midnight found a 19-year-old fatally shot, authorities said Friday morning.

Delijah Davis of Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene in the 6000 block of Cherry Hill Road, Capt. Saba Coleman said.

“The circumstances surrounding this shooting remain under investigation. No additional information is available for release in connection to this continuing investigation,” a press release stated.

Montgomery police have investigated three homicides thus far in 2022.

Christopher Sankey, 34, and Daniel Jackson, 31, both of Montgomery, were shot to death on New Year’s Day.

Police and medics were dispatched at 3:11 p.m. Saturday to Mobile Road near Beecher on a report of a person shot. When they arrived, they Sankey dead.

Jackson was killed about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 3800 block of South Court Street.

Montgomery ended 2021 with 76 homicides.
