11 Summer Food Freebies and Specials (for the First Day of Summer, Smoothie Day & Beyond!)

While the weather may suggest summer has been with us for a while (RMN is headquartered in Austin, y’all, and we’re feeling the heat), summer does not officially start until June 21.

And restaurants are celebrating by offering freebies, deals and special menu items. Plus, June 21 is National Smoothie Day, which brings the deals as well. We’ve blended it all together into the list of the most delicious start-of-summer deals and limited-time menu items to help you cool off and save.

7-Eleven

Even after the first day of summer, there are deals to be had. Slurpee Day (aka 7-Eleven’s birthday) is July 11. On July 1, rewards members (of 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards) will get a coupon in their account good for a FREE small Slurpee. That coupon is valid through July 11, in stores only.

Grubhub

Get a free McDonald’s Happy Meal when you place an order of $15 or more via Grubhub. This offer lasts until June 30.

Jamba

On June 21, rewards members can get any medium smoothie for $4 (not valid for add-ons or modifications). And, all summer long, enjoy Watermelon Breeze Weekends — rewards members can get $5 Classic or Plant-Based Watermelon Breeze smoothies every Saturday and Sunday through Aug. 21. This offer is redeemable via the app.

Plus, visit your local Jamba before 11 a.m. on weekdays and get 3X Jamba Rewards points. Participating locations only. You’ll need to sign up for the free rewards program to take part.

Jeni’s

In honor of the new Jeni’s rewards program and summer, all rewards members get a free scoop of ice cream on the first day of summer (June 21) from 7 p.m. to close. Jeni’s market shops are not participating in this offer.

Krispy Kreme

On June 21, check here to see what Krispy Kreme’s Beat the Pump pricing will be. Every week of summer through Aug. 31, Krispy Kreme will discount the price of a dozen doughnuts to match the price of a gallon of gas. High gas prices are kind of a bummer, so this is a great way to kick of summer. Learn more.

McDonald’s

On June 21 (the first day of summer), get a free any-size Sprite when you spend $1 via the McDonald’s app. Learn more.

McDonald’s is also inviting fans to share on social media what sound their Sprite tastes like. Does yours evoke the sound of a zipper? TV static? Ours tastes like sound of rummaging through ice in the cooler on a hot day.

Wendy’s

For the whole month of June, check the Wendy’s app for this deal, which renews weekly: Get a free small fry with any salad purchase. Think of the fries as a reward for ordering a salad, like the Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad (back for the third summer in a row). Just select the offer in your app and scan it.

Another June offer from Wendy’s: Buy one burger or sandwich, get another for just $1. This offer is available via the Wendy’s app.
