The suspect who the sheriff’s office said killed himself after a multi-agency police pursuit, was Carl Orbin English, 43, of Somerville.

Original story: Two people have died, including the suspect, in gun-related incidents Tuesday morning, according to the Morgan County sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said it responded early Tuesday to a shooting at a residence on Robin Private Drive in Somerville – about 15 miles southeast of Decatur. A male with gunshot wounds was found at the scene and EMS responded but the victim died, the sheriff’s office said.

While responding to the call, deputies spotted a vehicle matching a description from the shooting. The driver did not respond to an effort by deputies to make a traffic stop and attempted to flee, the sheriff’s office said. The vehicle was stopped on U.S. 431 north of Arab with assistance from Cullman County sheriff’s office, Arab police and Marshall County sheriff’s office.

The Morgan County sheriff’s office said the driver of the vehicle, a suspect in the shooting, attempted to kill himself and was transported to Marshall Medical Center, where he later died.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
