Huntsville police officer to enter intervention program after DUI arrest

A Huntsville police officer, charged with DUI following a February traffic accident, will have the charge dropped if he completes a pre-trial intervention program.

Madison County District Judge Don Rizzardi on Monday granted a motion filed last week by the Morgan County district attorney’s office asking for the intervention program for 31-year-old Taylor Stegall. A condition for the program is that the victim must give approval.

Prosecutors reserve the right to reinstate the charge against Stegall should the conditions of the program not be met.

On the afternoon of Feb. 20, the truck Stegall was driving collided with an SUV driven by Brodrick Fearn of Huntsville about seven miles north of Toney outside Huntsville. Stegall was off duty at the time. After responding to the incident, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officers charged Stegall with DUI.
