New football head coach Jon Sumrall and women’s basketball head coach Chanda Rigby will be two of the featured guests visiting Pensacola during Troy University’s 10th annual Trojan Tour.
The Trojans will be in town on Thursday for the fifth stop of a 10-stop tour across Alabama and the Panhandle. The event is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. from Blue Wahoos Stadium, one hour prior to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos’ game against the Tennessee Smokies.
Attendance to the event is free with the purchase of a game ticket.
“Trojan Tour is one of our favorite events of the year because we are able to go on the road and see our fans on their home turf,” Troy Director of Athletics Brent Jones said in a press release. “It’s a rewarding experience for both our staff and coaches plus our fans to have these events and be able to connect on a more personal level.”

Sumrall was hired on Dec. 2 after serving as a co-defensive coordinator at Kentucky. He takes over the program after Chip Lindsey guided the Trojans to a 5-7 record last season. This is Sumrall’s second stint with the program, previously serving as an assistant head coach from 2015-17.
Following a seven-season stint with Pensacola State College, Rigby produced success over the past 10 years at Troy. The team has posted 20 wins in six of the last seven seasons.
After back-to-back berths to the NCAA Tournament, the Lady Trojans captured the Sun Belt Conference regular season title this past year. They fell to Texas-Arlington in the conference tournament title game and to Alabama in the first round of the NIT to finish the season at 24-9.
Also scheduled to appear is Troy men’s basketball head coach Scott Cross. In his third year with the program, Cross led the Trojans to a 20-11 record last season. It was the program’s first winning season since the 2016-17 campaign.
