Kraft Macaroni and Cheese changing name; Here’s why

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, a kitchen household staple for 85 years, is getting a name change.

Kraft Foods announced Wednesday it is shortening the name to “Kraft Mac & Cheese.”

Why?

“The change from ‘macaroni and cheese’ to ‘mac & cheese,’ is meant to reflect the way fans organically talk about the brand,” the company wrote in a press release.

The Kraft Mac & Cheese boxes will also have an updated logo and simpler packaging.

“There is a familiar, craveable, positive comfort to Kraft Mac & Cheese that makes it so special and iconic to millions of people across the world and our new look is a reflection of what our brand means to our consumers,” Victoria Lee, brand manager at Kraft, said in the press release.

According to Today, in 2016, Kraft changed its recipe, removing artificial preservatives and dyes and replacing the latter with paprika, annatto and turmeric.
