Mobile police investigating city’s 24th murder of the year


MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Police are investigating Mobile’s 24th murder of the year.

Officers responded to Author Street near Lincoln Avenue at about 11:25 a.m. Saturday after officers received a report of a body lying in the street. When officers arrived, they found a Black man dead from a gunshot wound to the face, according to the Mobile Police Department.

Police said the victim was a 26-year-old man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

MPD said the victim’s name will be released once next of kin has been notified.

Investigators said this is an active investigation and that no additional details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.
