Trussville man, 80, charged with murder in wife’s death

The Trussville Police Department said an 82-year-old woman was found dead inside a home following an hours-long standoff with her suicidal husband. Learn more in the video above.Trussville police said the woman, Jo Ann Henry Harris, was found beaten and strangled inside a home on Brookstone Drive early Wednesday morning. The victim’s husband barricaded himself inside the home for several hours before finally surrendering.Police said the man, 80-year-old John Harris Jr., had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face and was taken to UAB Hospital. Harris has since been charged with murder.
