Carnage’s next victim has been revealed and it’s the most wasted character in the MCU…but Carnage may find he’s nothing like the movies.

The MCU‘s most wasted villain, Malekith the Accursed, is officially the next victim on Carnage‘s list in his quest for power. Currently, Carnage is seeking out certain heroes and villains to attain a godlike status as he quests for universal domination. As of right now, he has gained the powers of Hydroman and The Spot to find ways to transcend reality. Now, the upcoming issue Carnage #4 shows that he has a new villain in his sights, and it’s one that will prove that their MCU debut totally wasted their potential.
Malekith the Accursed is a Dark Elf from the Svartalfheim realm. Known for being one of Thor’s greatest enemies, he was the driving force behind the War of the Realms storyline as he attempted to take over Midgard. His abilities showed that he was a force to be reckoned with as he prevented Doctor Strange from using magic to the best of his abilities and even cut off Thor’s arm at one point in their long history together. However, none of this was truly shown in the MCU take on the character with Thor: The Dark World. Having by far one of the weakest motivations out of any MCU antagonist, he ended up fading into obscurity as Marvel movie fans quickly disregarded the film in favor for the third Thor adventure, Ragnarok. Now, his might is about to be put under the spotlight to prove himself once more as Carnage attempts to take his powers for his own.
In Carnage #4 by Ram V and Francesco Manna, Carnage and his serial killer apprentice Kenneth arrive in Svartalfheim. Kenneth is confused as to why they are there. Carnage replies that now that he’s tackled some of Earth’s biggest villains, it’s time to take the playing field to the gods. He even justifies going to Svartalfheim by stating “where better to begin than than the land of the wild hunt?” At first, readers may begin to realize that this realm sounds familiar. It’s when Carnage says “come now my pup. It’s time to go @$#% up some elves” that things become clear: Malekith is on the menu for the murderous symbiote. Enjoy this preview of things to come.
As devastating as Carnage has been though against classic Spider-Man villain Hydro Man and The Spot, Malekith may prove to be more difficult to face than he expects. This isn’t going to be the same Dark Elf portrayed by Christopher Eccleston in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The comics version of the character is actually a name to be feared. In fact, this won’t be the first time that Malekith has come in contact with a symbiote before. During War of the Realms, the Venom symbiote attempted to attack him to protect Midgard from his wrath only to get sucked into Malekith’s sword. While it’s possible for Carnage to come out on top since he’s more ruthless than his father, it certainly won’t be an easy win for him.
No matter the outcome of the fight, a battle between Carnage and Malekith the Accursed to become Marvel’s Ultimate God-Killer will be worth the price of the comic alone. Issues will go on sale starting Wednesday, July 6th, so fans will want to pick up a copy as soon as they can for what will certainly be one of the biggest comic fights of the year. Malekith may have gotten a bad rap when he was wasted in the MCU, but his might may well continue to shine in his comic form as he takes on Carnage this month.
