- Frothy Monkey is more than a delightful coffee spot, they serve fresh breakfast/lunch menu items, a variety of alcoholic beverages and small bites for day-to-night gatherings. Located in the former Urban Standard building Downtown.
- Tasty Town is a new Greek spot located right by Railroad Park with a modern, open feel and delicious food. I highly recommend their Chargrilled Eggplant spread.

- Salon 46 in Homewood is a sister-owned salon ready to give you the best cuts, color, styles and treatments. Opening date: August 6.
- Ampersand Cocktails and Cuisine is an upscale dessert bar opening in Downtown Birmingham right by Rotary Trail. Opening date: September 2022.
- Habitual Lash in Homewood is a new beauty bar with offerings including lashes, facials, waxing and more. Follow them on Instagram for the latest updates.
- Ladybird Taco in Mountain Brook is a fast-casual restaurant bringing fresh ingredients and a little bit of Austin, Texas flair to our neck of the woods. Opening date: Early September 2022.
We’ve got the inside scoop on a new family-owned Italian restaurant making its way to Inverness Village. Capella Italian will specialize in custom wood-fired pizzas, using uniquely designed ovens directly from Italy.

The 4,860 square-foot pizzeria will feature Italian music, long community-style tables and European soccer on their TVs for that immersive Italian experience.
On Monday, June 27, the Homewood City Council approved plans for an entertainment district in West Homewood. An entertainment district allows people to take alcohol off-premises within a certain area during designated times, so you can take that post-dinner margarita on the go!

The district includes local favorites including Ash Neighborhood Bar & Grill, Little London Kitchen and Pizzeria G.M.
Since 1999, the American Red Cross Building in Downtown Birmingham has been shuttered. Earlier this month, Parkview Financial announced they’re providing a $22.5 million loan to EPT Holdings, LLC to redevelop the vacated building. Here are the latest details about the project, led by New York developer Ed Ticheli:
- Name of the development: Market Lofts on 3rd
- 192 small affordable apartments averaging at 438 square feet
- Unit mix will include 95 studios, 94 one-bedroom units and three two-bedroom units
- One 4,000-sf retail unit with 60 parking spaces
- Building amenities: on-site laundry, a fitness center, a lounge on the 3rd floor and a central courtyard
With financing secured, construction has begun on the redevelopment, anticipated for completion by December 2023.
It’s time to plan your alternative routes for The World Games 2022, as there are many road closures and security perimeters that may affect your daily commute. Here’s a quick rundown of what you need to know:
- Public works and transportation workers will begin staging road closures and securing perimeters on July 2 and will continue to do so over the weekend.
- Areas South of 20/59 and access to CityWalk will be closed July 5-17.
- There will be rolling closures for certain locations and events on July 10-11 and July 16-17.
- There will be a security checkpoint for delivery drivers near 19th Street and Carraway Boulevard and designated times of entry for trucks like 18-wheelers.
- There will be a designated rideshare parking lot that will be located on 22nd St N for company drivers of Uber, Lyft and independent taxi service companies.
- People are encouraged to Ride the Line—the free transportation service available during The World Games 2022.
