Unfortunately, Lee Corso wasn’t able to make it to Lawrence, as he continues to deal with a health issue that came to light last weekend. However, the College GameDay crew provided a positive update ahead of getting down to business, bringing a smile to college football fan’s faces.

“Lee Corso not with us this week, and those of you who are with us every week know that [Corso] didn’t feel great last week in Clemson,” Rece Davis said. “Feeling much better, spoke to him yesterday, but still another week to recuperate.

“We hope get LC back in the chair coming up pretty soon.”

Additionally, Herbstreit — who famously has a special relationship with Corso — commented on what he’s heard on his colleague and friend’s health, as well.

“I think it’s very strange for everybody watching, those us on the set, of course, not to having Lee here, but [Rece Davis] spoke with him, I had a chance to, and [Desmond Howard] as I’m sure you have as well,” Herbstreit said. “He does sound better, but I think by doctor’s orders wasn’t expected to be able to travel this week. But news is good with the test that he’s been receiving.

“Next week he’ll be with us wherever College GameDay is, LC will be back right here where he belongs.”

Nevertheless, there were picks to be made — from Texas A&M at Alabama to Tennessee at LSU and BYU at Notre Dame. Rob Riggle is on hand as the celebrity guest picker in Lawrence — here’s who the College GameDay crew believes will be happiest on Saturday when the dust settles.

College GameDay: Picks for Week 6

TCU at Kansas: Of course Riggle isn’t picking against the Jayhawks, and McAfee is riding with the Jayhawks as well. However, Herbstreit and Howard are choosing the Horned Frogs to get the victory and send Kansas fans home disappointed.

Kansas State at Iowa State: It’s a split decision, as Riggle and Howard are riding with the Cyclones, while Herbstreit and McAfee are picking the Wildcats.

Texas at Oklahoma: With Quinn Ewers returning for the Longhorns, the College GameDay regulars are picking the Longhorns, but Riggle believes Oklahoma gets the victory.

Texas A&M at Alabama: In the game that once had so much hype behind it, nobody is picking Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies to upset the Crimson Tide.

Arkansas at Mississippi State: Herbstreit, Howard and McAfee believe Mike Leach gets another SEC victory, while Riggle is picking Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks.

Tennessee at LSU: Riggle is the lone picker going with the Tigers to defeat the Volunteers, as the College GameDay are riding with Hendon Hooker and Tennessee.

Washington State at USC: The whole crew believes the Trojans will continue their undefeated season, beating the Cougars.

Utah at UCLA: In a fascinating Pac-12 matchup, McAfee is alone in his stead against Chip Kelly, as Howard, Riggle and Herbstreit are riding with the Bruins.

Florida State at NC State: Only McAfee believes the Wolfpack can defeat the Seminoles on Saturday in the ACC showdown.

BYU at Notre Dame: It’s time for the Shamrock Series, but the crew is split — Howard and Herbstreit are on the Fighting Irish, while McAfee and Riggle are rocking with the Cougars.
