Lamb of God, Bush, The Cult lead heavy week of new music releases

In a new music release week dominated by some hard rock favorites we also have fresh titles from Charlie Puth, Willow and the Migos duo of Quavo and Takeoff (all subject to change)…

Albums of the Week: You wanna rock? This is the week for it, as a quartet of hard-hitting favorites serve up new platters (if we can use an old-school term) of noise. Lamb of God follows its self-titled 2020 effort with “Omens” (Epic), while Bush is back with “The Art of Survival” (Zuma Rock/BMG). The Cult’s “Under the Midnight Sun” (Black Hill/Round Hill) is the group’s first release since 2016, and Queensryche’s “Digital Noise Alliance” (Century Media) is the band’s fourth with current frontman Todd La Torre, who replaced Geoff Tate in 2012. Rounding things up is “Vacation in the Underworld” (Rat Pak) from former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and singer Jeff Scott Soto (Journey, Yngwie Malmsteen, Trans-Siberian Orchestra). This should be enough to keep Beavis & Butthead busy for awhile.

Album Title of the Week: King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, “Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava” (KGLW)

Did Ya Know?: During the eight years since its last album some may have forgotten that Broken Bells is the consortium of Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse, and James Mercer of the Shins. The duo provides a reminder with this week’s release of “Into the Blue” (30th Century/Aural Apothecary/AWAL), Broken Bells’ third album and long-promised follow-up to 2014′s “After the Disco.”
