A woman is recovering after Limestone County authorities say she was shot when several people were attempting to keep a family member from attempting suicide.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened at 12:04 a.m. today.
Deputies responded to a shots fired call in the 28000 Block of Lambert Road in Ardmore. They arrived to find a woman with a gunshot wound to the neck.
The woman was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Limestone County investigators say the shooting resulted from family members attempting to remove a weapon from the possession of a person who was exhibiting suicidal behavior.
During the scuffle, a single shot wounded the woman, who was nearby.
This case is under active investigation, and no arrests have been made at this time.
