Baysox Finally Overcome Six Game Losing Streak

These past few days have not been promising for Baltimore and their farm system. The Orioles only just broke out of a five-game losing streak, AAA Norfolk has only won one of their last nine, and AA Bowie finally climbed out of their six-game hole. For the Baysox specifically, let’s dive into what prompts this slump.

Bowie’s six-game losing streak was split across two series. They only took one out of six games while playing Pittsburgh’s AA Altoona, and have won one of two so far against Philadelphia’s AA Reading. Over those six losses, the Baysox gave up 43 runs, averaging over seven per game. Bowie has been trying to rebuild their pitching arsenal after many of their key players had been promoted to AAA Norfolk throughout this season. However, there are still many holes to be filled within their staff. Last Thursday alone, Baysox pitching gave up a season-high of 18 hits in 12 innings in a 10-8 loss against the Altoona Curve, despite having a 5-1 lead in the fifth inning.

On the bright side, the Baysox offense still stays producing for the most part despite these conditions. Ryan Higgins, Dylan Beavers, Jud Fabian, and TT Bowens had important offensive moments for Bowie. Still, these efforts unfortunately could not turn the tides for the Baysox.

Two of the losses of this six-game streak were also in extra innings, which hopefully does not end up becoming a trend for the Baysox. Bowie needs to focus on tackling those high-intensity games, as well as maintaining strong leads when they find themselves ahead. Hopefully, a win tonight will help the Baysox turn the page and begin the second half of their season strong.
