Boom! Controlled explosion to demolish chimney in Alabama

The U.S. government’s Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) carried out the safe implosion of a 1,000-foot (around 305 meters) stack on Thursday (December 3) in Stevenson, Alabama, as part of the ongoing Widows Creek Fossil Plant demolition project.

TVA, with the help of contractors, processed the concrete and steel that formed the stack, which allows to reuse the concrete and recycle the steel.

The video uploaded on social media shows aerial and remotely controlled camera footage of the detonation.

The site is being prepared for economic redevelopment.
