Man arrested after 18 year old found shot dead, slumped in a chair in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – An 18-year-old boy was found shot to death, slumped in a chair in a Birmingham apartment, according to Birmingham Police.

The victim has been identified as Jeremy Fidel Jackson.

Birmingham detectives said the incident happened after midnight Sunday, December 12, at an apartment located at 956 Pike Road.

Officers from West Precinct responded to the location on a call of a person shot. Officers found 18-year-old Jeremy Fidel Jackson in a front room of the apartment slumped over in a chair, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and Jackson was pronounced dead.

A suspect was taken into custody.

On Dec. 14, police said 20-year-old Laquandre Rashaud Kelly, of Birmingham, was arrested on a murder warrant.

Kelly is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Officers said the incident was isolated to this apartment. There were no other injuries.
