The Bearcats made history this year, with an undefeated record and a trip to the College Football Playoffs — the first time a team from a non-Power Five conference has done so.
On Dec. 4, the Bearcats won their 13th game of the season, securing the American Athletic Conference championship and their spot in this year’s playoffs. Star quarterback Desmond Ridder helped the cause with over 3,000 passing yards and a total of 30 touchdowns this season.

Celebrations haven’t stopped since the announcement, and on Dec. 21, drones lit up the sky above Nippert Stadium in honor of the amazing season.

And because this is such a big deal, Cinemark theaters and ESPN have also partnered to bring the action to the big screen.
“We are thrilled to offer an incredible opportunity for college football fans to gather and cheer on their teams in our immersive auditoriums with larger-than-life screens and surround sound,” said Justin McDaniel, Cinemark SVP Global Content, in a release. “This collaboration with ESPN brings together the best in college football and exhibition for a one-of-a-kind viewing experience that will make people feel like they are part of the on-field action.”
