Barbie Turns 65 With a Collection That’s a Nod to Past Icons

It’s hard to believe, but Barbie is about to turn 65. For almost seven decades, Barbie has been breaking down boundaries and inspiring girls everywhere through storytelling, encouraging them to be confident, daring, brave, and, as always — positively legendary.

The 65th Barbie Anniversary Collection features three of the most popular Career Barbies: the Farm Vet ($14.99), Pop Star ($19.20) and Astronaut ($16.99). The 2024 Fashionistas dolls are also getting in on the festivities with re-imagined iconic looks in updated outfits, including the 1959 First Barbie-inspired doll ($9.34), 1977 Superstar Barbie ($10.99), 1985 Peaches ‘n’ Cream ($10.99) and lots more.

Plus, a brand new collectible doll has landed. She’s inspired by the original 1959 Barbie doll, dressed in a couture gown with classic white and black stripes that pays homage to the iconic black and white striped bathing suit. This doll is available with either brown ($60) or blonde hair ($60).

Mattel is also celebrating Barbie with a special Role Models collection, including one-of-a-kind dolls to honor the real-life women who inspire us every day, like Viola Davis, Shania Twain and Kylie Minogue, to name a few — and just in time for International Women’s Day.
