69-year-old woman drowns in pool at friend’s Homewood residence

Authorities have released the name of a woman who drowned over the weekend at a Homewood home.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Judy Morrison. She was 69.

The woman’s friends notified the Homewood Police Department about 1:30 p.m. Saturday of a possible missing person after they were not able to find Morrison. While police were en route, the friends found Morrison at the bottom of a pool and moved her from the water to the pool deck.

The pool was located at a home on Kenilworth Drive.

She was taken to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 2:22 p.m. An autopsy performed Sunday found no sign of foul play and the death is believed to be an accident, said Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.

Morrison lived in Homewood but said she drowned at a friend’s house.
