Pelham Police Department seeking dispatchers, police officers

PELHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The City of Pelham announced that they are currently searching for dispatchers and police officers.

Dispatchers and officers play critical roles in keeping you and your family safe. As a 911 dispatcher you can expect to answer urgent calls from the citizens while as a police officer you can expect to protect and serve your community.

The city will be offering extensive trainings for both positions and are looking for highly motivated individuals with good communications skills.

“Anytime we are shorthanded like we are now, that takes away from another officer being out there on the street for the people to see driving through their neighborhoods or to answer those calls,” Cheatwood said. “It puts more of a burden on the ones that are out there, but we like to have the highest number we can put serving our community being visible and deterring crime, but we want to make sure we have the highest qualified individuals out there serving our citizens.”

Officials with the City of Pelham say they just implemented a new pay structures, with salaries ranging from $41,246 to $58,614 and a benefits package that includes Tier I retirement with the Retirement Systems of Alabama.
