SULLIGENT, AL — A homicide investigation is underway after human remains were discovered Tuesday morning in a rural part of Lamar County.

District Attorney Andy Hamlin’s office said this afternoon that multiple agencies are involved in the investigation after a citizen reported finding the remains at a location in the 1700 block of Old Calvert Road in Sulligent.

Hamlin said the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences will conduct an autopsy to
confirm the identity of the remains.
The homicide investigation is being conducted by the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.
