Sylacauga police investigating homicide – al.com


Sylacauga police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the year and they are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect.

Police report that 22-year-old Nartavius Cortez Fluker-Smith was pronounced dead at the Coosa Valley Medical Center sometime after 11 p.m. on Friday after suffering from gunshot wounds.

Fluker-Smith, according to witnesses, was sitting in a 2011 Ford Fusion near his residence at 306 S. Main Avenue when a shooter or shooters approached him and began firing at him inside the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital where was pronounced dead about an hour later, according to police.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Sylacauga Police Department Investigations Division at 256-401-2464.
