Gas prices are dropping across the U.S., bringing some relief to Alabama drivers.
The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Alabama this morning is $4.31, which is 32 cents less than the average on June 14 – $4.63 – the highest average price ever recorded in state, according to AAA.
The national average is $4.72, a decrease of 29 cents from the highest price recorded on June 14.
The drop in prices is being fed by concerns about an economic slowdown, which would cause a decline in petroleum demand. At the same time, domestic crude stocks rose, according to AAA.
Among the states, Alabama has seen the 10th biggest decline in gas prices over the last week, with the price going down 12 cents in seven days’ time.
But some gas stations in Alabama have nudged under $4 a gallon.
Looking at GasBuddy.com, the gasoline pricing app states that Sam’s Club in Auburn on Bent Creek Road is selling gasoline for $3.82 a gallon. Up in Northport, Walmart Neighborhood Market on McFarland Boulevard offers gas for $3.87, the same price as the BP in Alabaster on Butler Road.
The Exxon on Montevallo Road in Alabaster sells for $3.88, while the Sam’s Club in Dothan on Ross Clark Circle Northwest sells for $3.89.
According to AAA, the lowest average price in an Alabama metro area is $4.17 in Auburn. The highest metro area is Daphne-Foley-Fairhope, at $4.37.
