World Games 2022 Opening Ceremony live stream (7/7): How to watch online, TV, time, list of performers


The 2022 World Games kick off with the Opening Ceremony on Thursday, July 7. The event will be live streamed on theworldgames.org and TWG2022.com.

The World Games 2022 Birmingham is a global sport competition, welcoming elite athletes from all over the world to compete for gold in 34 sports. Featuring 3,600 athletes from more than 100 countries, the international event will unite global fans with the Birmingham community in 25+ venues around the greater metropolitan area.

The World Games 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the event and takes place through July 17.

“This will be the biggest sports party in Birmingham history, and we don’t want anyone to miss it,” The World Games 2022 CEO Nick Sellers said in a statement. “If people arrive early, they can visit World Games Plaza at CityWalk BHM or visit the Uptown entertainment area.”

Bootsy Collins will be the master of ceremonies, while performers include Nelly, Alabama, Lionel Richie, Tony! Toni! Tone!, Sara Evans, Yolanda Adams, Jamey Johnson, Ruben Studdard, Sheila E., Martha Reeves, Taylor Hicks, Yung Bleu, Bo Bice, Worth the Wait, Pastor Mike J and the Blind Boys of Alabama.

When is the Opening Ceremony?

The Opening Ceremony for the World Games 2022 Birmingham is set for 8 p.m. (9 p.m. ET) on Thursday, July 7.

Will it be live streamed?

The Opening Cerermony and the events of the World Games will be live streamed on theworldgames.org and TWG2022.com. Users of the TWG 2022 app also have the option to watch the stream on their mobile device with some limitations based on television rights.

Will it be televised?

The Opening Ceremony will be televised in the Birmingham market at CBS 42.
