SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet Tuesday night, Oct. 4, at 6:00 p.m.
A work session will be held prior to the meeting at 5:00 p.m.
The following agenda items are set to be addressed:
1. Adopt amendment to business license ordinance.
2. Approve resolution setting date for public hearing to consider request to annex property located at 320 Rocky Rd. Recommendation received from Planning Commission for zoning of property. First available date for public hearing is Nov. 15, 2022.
3. Approve resolution authorizing tax abatement to PlastiCal, LLC for a capital improvement project of $15,000,000 to add a production line and infrastructure for increased output at the compounding plant.
4. Rescind Resolution 45-2022, authorizing abatement of property located at 807 N Main Ave.
5. Authorize MOU with Sylacauga Board of Education to provide one certified police officer (SRO) for the period of Oct. 1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2023. City and BOE to equally share salary and benefits of officer.
6. Accept and authorize Mayor Jim Heigl to sign grant agreement in the amount of $8,875 from the Alabama Historical Commission for the Isabel Anderson Comer Museum and Arts Center.
7. Accept and authorize Mayor Heigl to sign grant agreement in the amount of $629 from the Alabama Historical Commission for the Sylacauga Historical Commission.
8. Amend minutes of the Aug. 16, 2022 council meeting to correct the dates of travel and training for firefighters Shelby Byrd, Donnie Lester, and Andrew McLain to attend the AFC Apparatus Operator Pumper in Oxford from Sept. 12-16 to Sept. 19-23, 2022.
9. Approve travel and training expenses for firefighters Donnie Lester and Andrew McLain to attend the Apparatus Operator: Aerial course in Oxford, Oct. 10-14, 2022. No registration fees; expenses for lunches and use of a city-provided vehicle will be incurred. Employees will carpool. Total estimated expenses for Lester and McLain are $75 each.
10. Approve travel and training expenses for firefighters Logan Blake, Harmony Kelley, A.J. Tubbs, Clay Upchurch, and Caleb Williams to attend the Rescue Technician: Vehicle Extrication I and Machinery Extrication I course in Anniston, Oct. 24-28, 2022. Registration fee of $350 per employee; expenses for lunches and use of a city-provided vehicle will be incurred. Employees will carpool. Total estimated expenses for Blake, Kelley, Tubbs, Upchurch, and Williams are $425 each.
11. Approve travel and training expenses for Lt. Renea Cummings and Lt. Willis Whatley to attend the following CLEEP courses: ‘The Leader as an Individual’ on Nov. 3, and “Conflict and the Toxic Employee” on Nov. 4, 2022 in Florence. Registration fee of $99 per course per employee. Additional fees for lodging, fuel reimbursement, and meals will be incurred.
