12 Free People Dupes With a Similar Mood – But at Cheaper Prices

I’ve been a super fan of Free People since well before before I had kids, or as my kids like to say, since the 1900s. I don’t know if my adoration is because of the brand’s free-flowing boho styles or their unique ability to put a cute twist on a regular ol’ T-shirt, but whatever the reason, I’m a hopelessly devoted Free People customer.

Free People is all about “femininity, courage and spirit,” according to its site. It carries like-minded brands sharing its whimsical ideology like designer Magnolia Pearl. Their high-quality apparel and extraordinary designs have made it as much beloved today as it was decades ago.

Free People prices are relatively affordable, especially considering I still have clothes purchased over 20 years ago in my current rotation. Where the boho retailer can get really expensive is with the more luxe brands they carry, including Jen’s Pirate Booty, Tricia Fix, Diesel, MOTHER and the aforementioned Magnolia Pearl. For example, there’s currently a pair of $750 super adorable Diesel jeans. Just no!

So, while there’s really no substitute for Free People’s designs and the unique personality it brings to apparel, there are really great alternatives that give off a Free People aesthetic, but that cost a lot less.

Free People-Inspired Fashion to Shop

1. Revice Denim ‘The Maverick’ Cargo Parachute Pants

Similar to Free People’s Big Sky Parachute Pant ($198) style, Revice Denim’s The Maverick parachute pant is one of the best dupes.

It has a low 12-inch rise, cargo pockets with extra wide legs and an adjustable tie waist. Plus, you have 11 different colors to choose from.

Deal: The Maverick is 20% off its regular $88 price right now.

2. Boho Beach Hut Sleeveless Romper Jumpsuit

Boho Beach Hut’s sleeveless jumper is a formidable option for the more expensive Free People Hot Shot Onesie.

Its loose, roomy design makes it easy to throw on and go about your day. Plus, it’s almost 50% off for a limited time, and you can’t beat that price with a stick.

3. ASOS Monki Denim Short Overalls

Free People Ziggy overalls ($88) make the shlumpy, lived-in look extra cool. And when they’re in short form, they’re even more awesome.

The ASOS Monki denim overalls feature a slouchy style with a classic pinafore design, adjustable buckle straps and two front pockets.

Rolled up or down, this pair of shortalls will be your new favorite go-to outfit. Pair it with cowboy boots for an extra sassy vibe.

4. Amazon Backless Mini Beach Dress

Similar to the FP 100 Degree Mini Dress ($78), this whimsical dress on Amazon has a backless style in a light, airy fabric, making it perfect for sunny weather.

You can choose from multiple colors, unlike Free People, and it’s cheap enough to buy one for every day of the week, if you really wanted to.

5. Francesca’s ‘Stacey’ Corduroy Bow Back Mini Dress

Francesca’s is a cute store with a plethora of Free People-inspired clothes, especially styles FP no longer carries and are missed by its fans.

The Stacey dress is a great dupe for the FP Violet Mini Dress ($108) with its square neckline and short puff sleeves that ties in the back.

Deal: Right now, it’s 25% off.

6. Amazon Fitglam Harem Pants

Harem pants are super comfy for lounging around the house or slapping on a cute pair of heels for a night out.

These Free People look-alikes feature a loose fit with a high waist and pull-on style.

They come in over 20 colors and in a wide range of sizes.

7. Francesca’s ‘Hannah’ Dolman Tee

This dolman-sleeve top is super reminiscent of the greatest Free People styles.

Francesca’s Hannah tee has a relaxed style with batwing sleeves that are tighter at the arms. It comes in over 10 pretty colors.

Size up for an even more slouchy, off-the-shoulder fit.

Deal: It’s currently 25% off of its regular $38 price.

8. Lucky Brand Destroyed Denim Mini Skirt

You’re missing out on the most versatile fashion staples if you don’t have a denim skirt in your collection.

With a Free People-esque style, Lucky’s denim mini skirt has an asymmetrical design in the front and back with distressing throughout and a raw edge frayed hem.

It has a hint of stretch and comes in extended sizes.

9. Nasty Gal Low-Rise Maxi Skirt

Maxi skirts are super trendy in 2023, and like the FP Chino Maxi Skirt ($128), Nasty Gal’s low-rise maxi skirt has a slim-fitting silhouette.

It has contrast stitching, a vent and utility pockets in the back with a button closure and belt loops.

Deal: It’s currently $50 off its regular $84 price.

10. Fashion Nova Tulle Mini Dress

The Bronx and Bronco Anna Baby Tiered Mini Dress ($750) is the most adorable little number, but Fashion Nova’s dupe is the more affordable option.

It features the same abundance of tule in a tube dress design with a tie waist and a flared hem for extra cuteness.

Deal: Get up to 25% off with the code SAVE.

11. Natural Life ‘Brynn’ Wide-Leg Knit Jumpsuit

Free People is known for their relaxed styles for staying comfy whether you’re lounging or out and about like with the FP Homecoming Jumper ($88).

This wide-legged jumper captures that FP vibe smashingly. It has a smocked bodice with lettuce-edge details and convenient side pockets. The hems are cut with a raw edge so you can easily create your own length.

12. Boohoo Super Oversized Denim Shirt

Pretty much anything that’s oversized will have a Free People vibe.

With a sturdy cotton construction, this oversized denim button-down shirt gives off a chilled, relaxed mood. Wear literally anything underneath, like denim jeans, or by itself, either way, you’ll look fabulous.

Deal: It’s currently 60% off its regular $65 price.
