Huawei had a big announcement today in China, introducing the nova 11 midrangers to the local crowd. For the first time, a nova event saw three devices – vanilla nova 11, nova 11 Pro, and nova 11 Ultra – all of them with a signature green paint job.
The trio has one key spec in common – the Snapdragon 778G chipset by Qualcomm. All three have their 5G disabled, meaning the new stylish midrangers are LTE-only smartphones.
Huawei nova 11 Pro & Ultra
The difference between these two phones is just one – the Ultra has two-way satellite messaging through Beidou, the Chinese satellite navigation system, meaning a higher price. Aside from that, it shares features and specs with the Pro.
The screen is a 6.78” 10-bit AMOLED with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 300 Hz touch sampling rate. Resolution is listed as “Full HD+,” but in fact, it is denser – 2652 x 1200 pixels. The panel has Kunlun Glass protection on top, and its sides are 2.5D curved. There is a pill-shaped hole in the upper left corner for the dual selfie cameras.
Regarding cameras, the front-facing ones are 60 MPmain with 100-degree FoV + 8 MP with 2x optical zoom for portrait purposes. There are three cameras on the back, but Huawei listed only the primary two – 50 MP with two aperture settings – f/1.4 or f/4.0 and RYYB sensor and laser AF. The second is an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle, while the third is said to be a “ten-channel color temperature sensor”.
The battery of the Huawei nova 11 Pro & Ultra is 4,500 mAh with 100W fast charging, and the adapter comes in the retail box. Other features include HarmonyOS 3.0 and fancy colors, two of which are vegan leather – Green and Black, while the other two, White and Gold, are glass and are limited to the Pro for some reason.

Huawei stopped announcing RAM in its phones, so until we get our hands on the devices, we can only report the nova 11 Pro storage options are 256/512 GB, while the nova 11 Ultra comes only with 512 GB.
Prices for the nova 11 Pro begin from CNY3,499 ($510), but that’s without the Kunlun Glass – the extra protection costs CNY200 ($30) more. Double the storage costs CNY3,999 ($582) but no fancy glass on top. The nova 11 Ultra is CNY4,499 ($655) – that’s CNY500 ($70) more just for the extra glass and satellite messaging.

The nova 11 might be the least impressive of the trio but still has plenty of intriguing specs. The screen remains a 10-bit AMOLED with all the quick refresh rate but is now 6.7” in diagonal and is flat.
Huawei decided to keep some of the lovely cameras as well – the 50 MP + 8 MP + temperature sensor on the back is still here. In contrast, the selfie camera is one and behind a centered punch hole; at least it is still the 60 MP with 100-degree FoV and 4K video recording.
The battery capacity did not change and remains at 4,500 mAh, but here charging is limited to 66W. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 with BLE, while the UI is HarmonyOS 3.0 – nothing surprising here.
Colors are once again Green, Black, White, and Gold but all of them are under plastic glass. Prices are CNY2,499 ($363) for the 128 GB version and CNY2,799 ($410) for the 256 GB. Putting a Kunlun Glass on top is an extra CNY200 ($30) (only for the more expensive option). There is also a version, available only in Green or Black, with 512 GB storage and protective glass for CNY3,399 ($495).
Pre-orders for all phones are open in China. First sale is scheduled for next Wednesday, April 26, at exactly 10:08 AM local time.
