Alabama crime: Police search for Missouri couple wanted in Alabama crime spree – TomoNews

TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA — Police are searching for a Missouri couple accused of a statewide crime spree in Alabama, AL.com reported.

Blake Fitzgerald and Brittany Harper, both 31, have been identified as the suspects in the crimes, which started at 6 a.m. on Sunday when they robbed and abducted an employee from the Microtel Inn and Suites in Tuscaloosa.

They forced the employee into his girlfriend’s car, which he used to go to work, then drove away, making him lie down on the car’s back seat covered with a white blanket.

After a quick stop to get some items from an SUV parked at the Home Depot on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway, which was later identified as stolen, the couple drove to a McDonald’s in Hoover, where Fitzgerald approached the restaurant’s manager in the parking lot at about 7:45 a.m.

The manager had just parked her car when Fitzgerald opened his jacket and showed her his gun, demanding her car keys. She screamed, then threw her keys toward a coworker, while another man came to her rescue.

Fitzgerald and Harper then drove to Vestavia Hills, where Fitzgerald broke into a house through an unlocked garage door. A family was having breakfast inside the house. Fitzgerald pointed his gun at them and demanded their cars keys.

Fitzgerald and Harper then took the family’s car and abducted the wife. They drove to Highway 280, where they dropped the victim off at or near the Grandview Emergency Room entrance and fled.

Police are still searching for the couple. The U.S. Marshal’s Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of each.
