Argument breaks out in Alabama's Senate over abortion bill vote



The Human Life Protection Act would make it a felony for a doctor to perform an abortion, punishable by a minimum of 10 years – and up to 99 – in prison. But the bills passage was delayed Thursday when it became apparent that some Republicans had attempted to remove exemptions for rape and incest at the last minute. The law would not punish women who seek or obtain abortions, and exempts cases where abortions would prevent serious health risks to the mother.
