IETM Aarhus Plenary Meeting 2023


IETM, in collaboration with Performing Arts Platform Denmark, presents the IETM Aarhus Plenary Meeting 2023 livestreamed on the global, commons-based, peer-produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Monday 12 June and Wednesday 14 June 2023.

The IETM Aarhus Plenary Meeting 2023 invites its participants to discuss and digest the ethical and practical role of the performing arts—and of the artist—in the face of climate emergency. It will present a program that aims to provoke new thoughts and inspire action, awareness, and positive impact.

In this frame, IETM and Performing Arts Platform Denmark invite the performing arts sector at large to tune in to the livestream of our two keynotes: “Living on the Edge—A Nature Divide?” on Monday 12 June and “Climate Justice” on Wednesday 14 June.

Monday 12 June

Living on the EdgeA Nature Divide?”

The Monday keynote will dive into the sociology of the ecological transition and explore the rise of a new social class deeply rooted in ecological values. The keynote will be led by Nikolaj Schultz, writer and researcher from Denmark, and accompanied by Ása Richardsdóttir, IETM secretary general, and Charlotte Mors, executive eirector at Performing Arts Platform Denmark.

Wednesday 14 June

“Climate Justice”
3:30 a.m. EDT (New York, UTC -4) / 08:30 BST (London, UTC +1) / 09:30 CEST (Berlin, UTC +2)

Led by Aili Keskitalo, former Sámi president from Sámi Land/Norway, the Wednesday keynote will look into the intersection of Indigenous rights, the paradox of green energy production, and the role of the arts in the understanding of history and its relationship with the present.
