There are several bosses throughout Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but only a couple will have the chance to fight Cal Kestis more than once. Dagan Gera is a unique boss that is first battled in the Forest Array. Following that, there will be two other full multiphase boss fights with this enemy for a total of three fights altogether, each being harder than the previous one.
Since every fight with Dagan Gera will be harder, as his attacks are going to evolve through each phase and fight. Keep in mind throughout these fights that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor allows a change in difficulty level for players at any point throughout the game. So if any of these fights pose too much of a threat, this is always an option that can be resorted to.
Dagan Gera Phase 1: Forest Array
Cal will first encounter Dagan Gera in the Forest Array. Unfortunately, after freeing him and returning his yellow lightsaber to him, Dagan reveals that he is no longer particularly friendly. In a quick cutscene, players will see Dagan bleed the crystal of his lightsaber, after which the fight will begin with the now red lightsaber-wielding enemy, Dagan Gera. Despite his single lightsaber stance, this enemy will put up quite the fight, but as Cal is now a skilled Jedi in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, there is no need to worry.
One of the main things to keep in mind here is to stay close to Dagan Gera and deal as much damage as possible.
The dual-bladed lightsaber stance will be recommended for this encounter with Dagan Gera to have the best chance at doing damage quickly and give Cal the overall advantage. Remember that the optimal window for attacks is after breaking Dagan’s stance; however, be sure to watch out for his wide-sweeping attack. In the second half of the fight, Dagan will have two unblockable attacks that happen in quick succession and can do serious damage if they land successfully, so Cal should do his best to dodge these. Once Dagan reaches a low enough point, the fight will en,d and he will run off.
Dagan Gera Phase 2: Lucrehulk
The second fight with Dagan Gera will occur when Cal is about to rescue Zee in the Lucrehulk. Dagan will appear, prompting a cutscene that will lead into the fight and reveal that, differently from the first fight, he now wields a double-bladed lightsaber. The main thing that Cal will need to look out for here is that Dagan will frequently take one of his blades and orbit it around himself. Attacking him during this moment will only damage Cal, so parrying it is the best option here because if it is done successfully, it will knock off half of Dagan’s stun gauge.
The other main thing to note is that Dagan will deal blockable attacks and unblockable attacks in quick succession to trick the player. So be aware of this, and don’t get carried away with attacking. After breaking Dagan’s stance, this will be the optimal window for an attack. However, this will be a very narrow window of time, so do as much damage as possible. The Crossguard Stance in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is recommended since it gives the best chance of doing high amounts of damage in a small amount of time. Dagan will not be defeated entirely here as he still has one more fight in him that will occur later.
Dagan Gera Phase 3: Koboh Observatory
Fight three with Dagan Gera will reveal that not only is he still wielding his double-bladed lightsaber from the second fight, but in phase two of this fight, he now has a force arm to replace the one he lost. Another new thing is Bode will be hanging around for this fight to provide some distraction, so take advantage of these moments to do as much damage as possible while the focus isn’t on Cal. Additionally, using Force abilities in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor might be tempting but aren’t recommended for this fight as they will only do a little here and are a waste of energy; instead, save the energy for attacks that require it.
Dagan Gera will glow red like all other enemies when doing an unblockable attack. However, players need to be careful because the lighting of this arena, paired with Dagan’s light-colored and reflective clothing, can make it somewhat hard to see when that red glow occurs. This could leave Calvulnerable tog significant damage if he doesn’t dodge these attacks. So stay focused and watch closely.
In phase two, Dagan will begin launching Force projectiles, which Cal can dodge. Other than that, despite having the extra arm, this phase will be similar to the first. To start phase three, Dagan will have two projections of himself appear, which need to be taken out immediately; otherwise, they will be an annoying hindrance. They are relatively easy to kill and then turn the focus back on Dagan. Additionally, the Force projectiles will still be part of this phase, but the amount will be doubled, requiring even more dodging. The final thing will be a wall of Force blades that are not blockable and very hard to dodge, so be careful.
The key to each of his phases in the final fight will primarily be accurately timing dodges to ensure that Cal takes minimum damage and then being relentless with attacks when the windows for them open. After defeating Dagan, a cutscene will ensue where Cal lands the finishing moves. Finally, Dagan Gera is gone and will not be making any more appearances. Since Dagan Gera’s death is kind of the climax of the narrative, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s main story is beginning to wrap up, and players can continue from here by finishing the last portion of the game, where some even more exciting surprises await.
