Vestavia Hills (Alabama) Community Recreation Center

The Vestavia Hills Alabama – Community Recreation Center is a newly opened multi-purpose facility available for a variety of community events and activities.

Covington worked with general contractor Amason & Associates and Williams and Blackstock architects to convert the existing, privately-owned, fitness club into a modern, state of the art municipal recreation center.

The new center offers a menu of recreational opportunities for members of the community and provides a welcoming atmosphere for people of all ages and interests.

In addition to the renovated portion of the existing building, plans called for the addition of two new regulation gymnasium spaces totaling over 18,000 sf and featuring the popular Robbins Northern Hard maple flooring supported by the shock absorbing Robbins BioChannel SB subfloor system. The courts are striped for basketball, volleyball, and the fast-growing sport of pickleball.

Walkers and runners enjoy the 5,500 sf suspended, three-lane, walking track featuring the highly resilient Robbins Strata-Sport seamless surface designed to provide enhanced comfort and slip-resistance.

The existing club space was completely renovated and upgraded to provide modern social and recreational programs and also include new resilient maple floors by Robbins for dance exercise, Pilates, Yoga and other multi-use activities.

Serving the South for over 40 years, Covington remains the market leader in sport and recreational surfaces.
