The Downward Force challenge is given to players at Mayaumekis Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with a solution leading to a coveted Light of Blessing as a reward. Enough Light of Blessings can upgrade Link’s stamina or health, making this Shrine worth visiting. However, players will need reasonable control over their paraglider to get through this area and find the secret items scattered within.
Mayaumekis Shrine can be found inside the Rising Island Chain, after a cutscene between Tulin and Link, where they hear a voice. At coordinates (-2947, 2051, 0897), the Sky Island, where the Shrine rests, is high above the Hebra Mountains. The easiest way to find this location is to take a detour during the “Tulin of Rito Village” quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which sees players cross through the region in search of a potential companion.
Mayaumekis (Downward Force) Shrine Walkthrough
The key to the puzzles at Mayaumekis Shrine in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are to shoot or hit small yellow switches while gliding through the air, using the sails of floating ships to bounce Link higher and higher into the air. When players enter the Shrine, they’ll immediately notice a gate blocking their path. A wall with bars only partially hides one of the yellow switches right within arm’s length for players to hit.
Hitting the switch opens the gate after it turns green, leading players to a massive room with multiple platforms and ships moving around. A Construct enemy from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom defends the first ship but can be easily taken down. Players must jump on the first ship’s sails to launch Link into the air, past a platform with another ship whose sail can be used to reach even greater heights.
From up in the air, players should notice a moving ship going around in a circular pattern, as well as a far-off platform with another ship docked. Using the moving ship to gain a bit more height, players can reach the platform and notice a large grate under a section of the low-hanging ceiling. This area represents the end of the Shrine in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and has a yellow switch players can see through a barred-off wall high above the grate.
Using an arrow during the slowed time to hit the switch opens up the grate from below, letting players use the ship sails near the platform to jump into the now-opened space to solve the Shrine. Alternatively, players can also use Link’s Ascend ability in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from the mast of the third ship past the platform to swim past the grate, hitting the switch from the inside to unlock the area.
Rewards For Solving Mayaumekis Shrine
A hidden chest can be seen in the air to the left of the moving ship, sitting very high up in the Shrine. If players use the sails of ships in the room to gain some height, they should be able to reach this container without much of a problem. Players are given 10 Arrows from this chest, which may help if they are low on ammo to hit the yellow switch past the barred wall.
However, the greatest reward for finding the solution to Mayaumekis Shrine is a Light of Blessing, which helps players give Link an important upgrade to their stamina or health in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
