Netflix has rounded out the cast for Squid Game Season 2, with new additions Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an joining previously announced cast members Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, Gong Yoo, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun. Hwang Dong-hyuk will return to direct and executive produce the sophomore season, which will start production later this year. The series debuted on Netflix in September 2021, becoming a global phenomenon and reaching 111 million accounts. It will be accompanied by the competition show Squid Game: The Challenge, which will feature 456 players vying for a $4.56M cash prize.
