Evil Dead’s Best Ash Williams’ Replacement Was Introduced 5 Years Ago

Summary

  • Evil Dead 6 needs a new character to replace Ash Williams, and the best candidate is Brandy Barr, Ash’s long-lost daughter introduced in Ash vs Evil Dead season
  • She is a clever and motivated high school senior who could become a badass deadite-slaying hero.
  • Brandy’s role would continue the franchise’s focus on strong female leads, following in the footsteps of characters like Mia Allen and Beth. This would add to the franchise’s appeal and create a pantheon of badass deadite-slaying women.
  • There are various ways to bring Brandy into Evil Dead 6, such as searching for her missing father, coming into possession of the Necronomicons, or investigating one of the cabins. The possibilities for a Brandy-centric storyline are limitless.

Evil Dead 6 needs to come up with a new deadite-slaying antihero to replace Ash Williams, and the franchise already introduced the perfect replacement half a decade ago. Bruce Campbell has officially retired from playing Ash and has said that the only way he would return for another Evil Dead film is if series creator Sam Raimi returned to direct it. But Raimi hasn’t directed an Evil Dead movie since 1992’s Army of Darkness, and has left the franchise in the hands of filmmakers like Fede Álvarez and Lee Cronin, so he’s unlikely to return to the director’s chair any time soon.

This means that when Evil Dead 6 inevitably gets made, it’ll need to come up with a new character to anchor the series. In its past few installments, the Evil Dead franchise has become an anthology series tackling new characters and storylines in each movie, but it’ll eventually resume its unified continuity. The next Evil Dead director could try to come up with a brand-new character to replace Ash, but that would be extremely risky – especially since the franchise already introduced the best candidate for Ash’s replacement five years ago.

Brandy Barr Is The Best Ash Williams Replacement

The best replacement for Ash in the Evil Dead franchise would be Brandy Barr, Ash’s long-lost daughter introduced in Ash vs Evil Dead season 3. The character was played brilliantly by Arielle Carver-O’Neill. Brandy is a clever, well-to-do high school senior whose life is turned upside down when the demons that terrorize her dad find their way to Brandy and kill her mother. Brandy’s mother’s death is a great motivation to turn Brandy into a cold-blooded deadite killer. She wants to vanquish the demons to avenge her mom.

Not only is Brandy a lovable, intriguing character who stood out from the rest of the crowded ensemble of the Ash vs Evil Dead series and would be a joy to see on the big screen; she would also help continue the franchise’s focus on strong female leads. This focus on female protagonists has been seen in the last two Evil Dead films, with Jane Levy’s Mia Allen in the 2013 reboot and Lily Sullivan’s Beth in Evil Dead Rise. If Brandy stars in Evil Dead 6, she could join this pantheon of badass deadite-slaying women.

How Brandy Barr Could Fit Into Evil Dead 6

There are a few different ways to bring Brandy into Evil Dead 6. Ash could mysteriously go missing and Brandy could go searching for him. She could come into possession of one of the three Necronomicons (or all three of them), sending her on another violent adventure to kill some demons. Brandy and her friends could go up to one of the cabins from the movies to investigate, Blair Witch-style, and end up inevitably awakening the demons within. The sky is the limit for a Brandy-centric Evil Dead 6.
