Regardless of your feelings toward ribbons, shiny paper and tape, one thing is for sure: Finding time to package up presents, much less make them not look like a hot mess, is hard!
Although gift wrapping services aren’t what they used to be or as readily available, we’ve tracked down the stores continuing to offer gift wrapping options — either for free or at least at a relatively affordable price. And
Stores With Free Gift Wrapping
Brooks Brothers Gift Box
When you buy a gift online at Brooks Brothers, and it’s shipping in the U.S., you have the option of getting a gift box for free. You must select the gift box option when you check out. They put gift items in a box based on its size and box availability. Your gift message is on the gift receipt.
Charlotte Tilbury Gift Wrapping
Luxury beauty gifts from Charlotte Tilbury can be wrapped in a pretty Dreamy Night Crimson gift box for free with the purchase of $200 or more. You have other options like “Zodiac Sleeves” to personalize your magical gift.
Jared Gift Wrapping
Jared offers free gift wrapping for online and in-store purchases, and everything qualifies, except Citizen watches. If it’s available for your Citizen product purchase, it’ll show up as an option in your shopping bag. For ship-to-store orders, you must request the option at checkout to have it wrapped by the store before picking it up.
Kendra Scott Gift Wrap
Kendra Scott offers complimentary gift wrapping for all her jewelry. Select “Yes” under the “Is This a Gift?” option during checkout, and they’ll wrap each item separately. Note: Not everything can be wrapped, like home goods items, so check the website.
Net-a-Porter Gift Box
Although Net-a-Porter doesn’t offer gift wrapping per se, with Net-a-Porter’s Signature Packaging, your order arrives in a pretty black box with a big ribbon tied around it for free. The option is available during checkout.
Tiffany & Co. Signature Gift Box
Nothing is more beautifully presented than a little blue box from Tiffany’s. All purchases come in a complementary signature Tiffany Blue Box tied with a white satin ribbon. You can write a personal message at checkout; otherwise, it arrives with a blank card.
Tory Burch Gift Box
When you order online at Tory Burch, they deliver your gifts in colorful packaging and a personalized note for free, including a gift receipt (with prices omitted). Just select the option during checkout.
Stores With Affordable Gift Wrapping
Amazon Gift Wrapping
Amazon offers a gift wrap option for most items they fulfill from selected sellers. You’ll get a 100% recycled gift-wrapped box or bag, decorative ribbon and a printed card with your gift message on the top of the package. Prices vary depending on the size and shape of the item but expect to pay between $3.99 and $5.99.
If an item can’t be wrapped due to its size or shape, Amazon offers the option of a reusable cloth gift bag or you can select “Ship in Amazon Box” on the checkout page so the contents don’t spoil your or their holidays. And there’s no additional cost for this option.
American Girl Gift Bag
American Girl offers a reusable holiday bag for $6 online (currently sold out). As far as we know, the stores don’t offer in-store gift-wrapping options.
Apple Store Gift Package
The gift-wrapping service is available only for select online Apple purchases. The Apple Gift Package is available for $5 and comes with Apple’s signature gift box, a red ribbon and a greeting card with your personal message. Just select “This is a gift” at checkout, and then you can add the gift wrap option.
You can use the pick-up-in-store option even if you want to opt for Apple’s gift-wrapping service, but it might add extra time to your order. And if you’re having an item delivered to a gift recipient, you can include a free personal message even if you don’t gift wrap the item.
Aveda Gift Wrapping
When you order an Aveda gift online, you can select the “Gift Wrap” option and pay $5 at checkout. Your purchase is gift-wrapped and will include a gift card with your personal message. If you’re purchasing more than one gift, they will be wrapped together in one gift box. Note: The Aveda Gift Wrap Service is available only for online purchases.
Barnes & Noble Gift Wrapping
Barnes & Noble offers gift wrapping for just about any online item for $4.99 per item. At checkout, choose the “Make it a gift?” option for each item you want gift wrapped and then select “Gift Wrap this item.” And bam, you’re done. You can also add a free gift message of up to 250 characters for items that are gift-wrapped as well as items that are not.
Bloomingdale’s Gift Box
Registered customers and guests can choose Bloomingdale’s Gift Wrap option at checkout for $5 per item. Gifts that aren’t part of a registry will arrive in Bloomingdale’s signature black and white box, tied with an elastic ribbon. Gifts from The Registry at Bloomingdale’s are wrapped in white croc-embossed paper with a champagne grosgrain ribbon.
Bluemercury Gift Box
When you’re buying a gift or two from Bluemercury, you have the option to add a gift box to your order for $7 and/or a free personalized message. Bluemercury selects the box size to best accommodate your order.
Crate & Barrel Gift Box
Crate & Barrel gives you two options to box up your online gift purchase: one box for each item at $6.50 per box or $6.50 for one box to hold all your items (both up from last year’s $5.50 price). Both options get a free personalized gift message. Make your selection when you’re ready to check out. Note: Oversized and heavy items don’t qualify for gift boxing. Dillard’s Gift Box
Dillard’s puts wedding registry gifts in a white gift box for free. For all other types, they charge $9 per item for your gifts to be put in a white gift box for both online and in-store purchases.
J.Crew Gift Box
For online purchases, J.Crew did offer a gift box in 2022, which was available in three different sizes — small, medium and large — for $4 each. As of right now, the option isn’t showing up online, but that could change as it gets closer to the holiday season. Gifts aren’t wrapped but will arrive with the gift box flat and unfolded.
Kate Spade Gift Box
Kate Spade gifts can be wrapped for $6 per item. Most items are packaged in a multicolor Kate Spade gift box and tied with a signature ribbon. Apparel gifts are wrapped in a pink Kate Spade garment bag, while select items are pre-boxed and a ribbon added to it. You can also include a free printed gift message. Just select the gift wrap option online at checkout.
Note: Not all items are available for gift wrapping, but the gift wrap option will be noted on the product page in your online shopping bag. Your order takes an additional four days when the gift-wrapping option is checked.
Lake Pajamas Gift Box
When you buy a cozy robe or comfy PJs from Lake, you’ll have the option of adding a super pretty gift box to your order for $10 at the time you add a product to your shopping cart. Or, you can include a gift message for free.
Lands’ End Gift Box
For your online Lands’ End gift order, check the “Gift Box” option at checkout for each item you’d like a gift box for. Each box is $7. For multiple items packed in one box, you’ll need to call customer service.
L’Occitane Gift Wrapping Kit
L’Occitane isn’t currently offering gift-wrapping options. However, they do have a gift-wrapping kit for $5 you can purchase at checkout. The purpose of this kit is to assemble a gift yourself and give it to the recipient.
Note: “If you’re sending the order directly to the recipient and you select this option, they will receive an unfolded, flat box with tissue paper,” according to L’Occitane.
M.A.C. Cosmetics Gift Box
M.A.C. charges $4.95 for a branded gift box for online beauty gifts from M.A.C. The retailer has offered limited-edition gift boxes in the past for various holidays that shipped for free with minimum qualifying purchases. Check with your local store to find out if M.A.C. offers in-store gift boxes.
Macy’s Gift Wrapping
Macy’s stopped their in-store gift wrapping services in 2010, but today, it varies by location. However, for certain gift items purchased online, you can choose to send them in a gift bag for $6 per order. Just select the gift box option at check out if it’s available. You also have the option to add a personalized message. During the holiday season, the retailer offers special gift options, so check back.
Mark & Graham Gift Wrapping
Mark & Graham offers beautiful gift wrapping for your holiday order. Their signature white paper gift wrap includes an extra-wide grosgrain ribbon and a personal message on a printed gift card for $5. Select it (if eligible) during checkout.
Neiman Marcus Gift Packaging
You can choose to add gift wrapping at checkout for $7.50 per gift and free for Neiman Marcus InCircle members Circle 3 levels and higher. Each gift box is made of 100% recyclable material with a soft-touch finish, and the Neiman Marcus logo is embossed in black foil and tied with a shimmery ribbon.
Nordstrom Gift Wrapping
Nordstrom in-store purchases can be wrapped for $5, featuring a selection of prints and ribbons available or packaged for free in Nordstrom’s signature gift box. Non-Nordstrom items can be wrapped for $15. For online orders, gift options are available at checkout that includes a $5 DIY gift-box kit that comes with your order. New for 2023, wrap your gifts up in a reusable gift bag in Nordstrom’s signature print for $5 for in-store and online purchases.
Pottery Barn Gift Wrapping
Whether you shop at Pottery Barn online or in-store, you can add gift wrapping for $8.50 per package. You also can personalize your gift with a monogram for $15 per item.
Ralph Lauren Gift Box
Select Ralph Lauren‘s signature navy gift box online at checkout for $5. Or add a personal note, and Ralph Lauren will print it on an elegant card to be included with your gift for free. If you order through the app, you have the option of adding a gift box for free.
Revolve Gift Box
Gift receipts are free and available at Revolve with any order. Gift wrap is available for an additional $5 per order. Revolve packages your order in a gift box with a bow and includes a personalized card.
Saks Fifth Avenue Gift Packaging
For online purchases at Saks Fifth Avenue, you can enclose a gift note for free or choose gift packaging at checkout for $5. It’s free with orders of $500 or more.
Sephora Gift Packaging
Sephora offers one gift packaging option per order. You can choose from their signature black and white gift box for $5 or a black nylon satchel with a red cord drawstring for $3. To select gift packaging to add a personalized gift message on the packing slip, click “edit” in Step 2 when you’re checking out online.
Sur La Table Gift Wrapping
Most items can be gift-wrapped from Sur La Table for $5.99 per gift. When you’re checking out online, just pick the items that you want gift-wrapped. You can also include a gift message with your order.
Things Remembered Gift Wrapping
For $5.95 per gift, you’ll get your item wrapped in pretty light gray wrapping paper, tissue paper, a dark gray bow and a personalized card from Things Remembered. The option is available only for online purchases of items that are shipped. That means not using the buy online, pickup in-store option.
UGG Gift Bag
For an extra $10, UGG will send your gift in a cute gift bag that comes with or without the UGG logo on the front. Use UGG’s Holiday Concierge by checking the box confirming your order is a gift during check out and every product is put into separate gift bags. And regardless of how many items you have, it’ll still be $10 for the whole order. Once you get it, you’ll be able to identify which product is in each bag by opening up the Velcro tab.
Ulta Gift Wrapping
Ulta offers a gift wrap option on most items for $3.99. To add the gift option, choose “Make This Order A Gift” in your shopping bag and/or include a personalized message with the order for free.
Uncommon Goods Gift Box
Uncommon Goods offers gift boxing for $5.95 per box, or you can add a message with your order for free. There’s no additional charge for gift boxing more than one item in a box. The option is available during checkout.
Victoria’s Secret Gift Box
Victoria’s Secret will wrap your gift in tissue paper and put it inside a Victoria’s Secret gift box for $7. Add the option to your order when you’re checking out. All gifts are wrapped together in one box.
Williams Sonoma Gift Wrapping
You can include a gift message for free with any Williams Sonoma online order when you select that option at checkout. For gifts you’d like wrapped, the cost is $8.50 per item, which includes a ribbon and a personalized gift message. Some larger items and items sent directly from vendors cannot be gift-wrapped.
Stores That Don’t Gift Wrap
As much as you’re likely searching for specific stores that gift wrap, these are the stores that don’t offer gift wrapping options; however, some have other ways of sending a gift to let those know you’re thinking of them.
- Athleta: You can’t get your gifts wrapped, but you can send a personal message to your gift recipient for free.
- Banana Republic: The retailer has stopped offering gift-wrapping options but does offer a free gift message with your order.
- Bath & Body Works: They don’t offer gift wrap, but you can buy a gift bag for $1, along with other options, and include a free gift message with your online order.
- Bed Bath & Beyond (formerly Overstock.com) will include a free gift message at checkout, but no longer has the option for gift wrapping like it had done through 2022.
- Best Buy no longer offers its branded gift box, but if you send someone a gift, you can send a free gift message with your order at checkout.
- Big Lots: The store doesn’t offer gift wrap or packaging for online orders.
- Costco: The warehouse offers the option to select items for a personal gift message during checkout.
- Dick’s Sporting Goods: You can send your order as a gift, but they don’t offer gift wrapping.
- Foot Locker: The kick store doesn’t offer gift wrapping services in stores or online.
- JCPenney: Gift wrapping isn’t offered.
- Jonathan Adler: Gift wrapping services aren’t offered.
- Kohl’s: Gift wrapping isn’t available for online purchases, but you can add a personal message to any gift purchase.
- Lord & Taylor: The retailer doesn’t offer gift services.
- Lululemon: You can send a free gift message with your online order.
- Old Navy: You can send a free personalized message with each online gift order.
- Target: Target offers a free gift message at checkout for gift items purchased online.
- TJ Maxx: Customers have the option of adding a gift receipt to their online purchases.
- Walmart: The retailer offers the option to hide prices and include a digital receipt, but your gift order is shipped in a Walmart box at no extra charge.
- World Market offered a gift wrapping service in 2022 for $5.50 per item at check out, but this year, the retailer is offering free personalized messages with gift purchases only.
