What to Expect From Labor Day Sales This Year
Labor Day weekend (Sept. 2-4 in 2023) typically is the time for summer clearance events. Many retailers offer end-of-the-season deals on a wide range of buys: flights, hotels, grills and outdoor furniture. You’ll also see markdowns on summer clothing, including swimsuits, shorts and sandals, as well as on outdoor toys and camping and hiking gear. So whether you’re gearing up for fall or stocking up for summer next year, Labor Day is a good time to snap up products at a low price.
Labor Day is also a three-day weekend, and traditionally, stores offer deals on big-ticket buys like appliances and mattresses during three-day weekends.
When Do Labor Day Sales Start?
We typically see Labor Day messaging and deals launching a week or more prior to the actual holiday. So keep an eye out early, starting the last few days of August.
What Not to Buy During Labor Day Sales
Labor Day serves as an opportunity to save on summer clearance buys, but it’s typically not the very best time to find deals on fall apparel, holiday toys and Halloween decorations. Those items get markdowns after October.
