Walmart has announced that it’s kicking off its holiday shopping season on Oct. 9 this year. The Walmart Deals – Holiday Kickoff sale will run Oct. 9 (starting 7 p.m. ET) through Oct. 12. Shoppers will find deals on tech, trending gifts, fashion and more.
Shockingly, that’s not the earliest of the early holiday sales this year. Target’s early holiday shopping edition of Circle Week kicks off Oct. 1 this year.
This is all part of the cluster of sales forming around Amazon’s Prime-Day-like fall sale (Prime Big Deal Days). Whenever Amazon throws a giant sale for prime members, its competitors (Target, Walmart, Best Buy, literally everyone) follow suit. Walmart also threw its Walmart+ Week sale on top of Amazon Prime day this summer.
Walmart Deals – Holiday Kickoff Sale: The Details
The sale runs online, and deals kick off 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 9. The sale ends Oct. 12.
In addition to regular shipping, shoppers can utilize same-day pickup and even late-night express delivery in some areas to get their stuff faster.

Sales like this are a good way to snap up some of your holiday gifts early — or even just shop for yourself. Then, you can treat Black Friday as a second round. If that all feels “too early” to you, our survey found that 29% of shoppers will be starting their holiday shopping in October (many of them to spread out their holiday budget).
