Facets of Modern Femme Identity – Gia On The Move

Say She She, the soulful female-led trio, stand rock solid on discodelic duty with their boundary breaking sophomore album Silver, which was entirely written and recorded live to tape at Killion Sound studio in North Hollywood earlier this year and produced by Sergio Rios (of Orgone).

Silver, released last week, ultimately, oozes with quirk and adventure, and embraces the multifaceted nature of what it means to be a modern femme. We think, they’re just plain FUN!

Later this month, their Jools Holland performance will air (October 14) in addition to their CBS Mornings interview with Anthony Mason (airing the following week).

As one of KCRW’s highest charting artists over the past TWO years, Say She She hit #1 on the KCRW Top 30 this week for their 6th time at the #1 spot in the past 12 months! Just amazing support from a top tastemaker station — and its not just KCRW, its KEXP, WFUV and WXPN, where they are October’s Artist To Watch.

Say She She met on the dance floor: three women from disparate parts of Brooklyn instantly drawn to each other through the floorboards of an LES apartment and at a house party in Harlem. Channelling the post-disco spirit of early 80s NYC and classic girl groups of the 60s, Say She She named their band as an homage to Nile Rogers and Chic — and look to everything from Rotary Connection and Prince to David Mancuso’s Loft Parties and Asha Puthli for inspiration.

Since releasing their debut album last year, the three-piece made their national TV debut on CBS Saturday, emerged as darlings of tastemaker radio, performed sessions and receiving significant spins from the likes of KEXP, a performance at NonCOMM, WFUV, and WXPN, including a World Cafe Live performance. They appeared at #1 on KCRW’s Top 30 four times, performed as Central Park Summerstage season openers, and played three sets plus a performance on BBC in just 24 hours during their Glastonbury Festival debut.
