Trump sends Alabama 'our love and prayers' after deadly tornadoes

Armando Hernandez, known as AJ, became separated from his mother in Beauregard, Alabama, when the tornado struck and was later found dead. Lee County Coroner Brian Harris confirmed at least 23 people had died, including three children, and said all but six victims have been identified. The National Weather Service rated the tornado as an F4 after preliminary assessments indicated winds speeds reached 170mph. Officials say the twister carved a path of destruction 24 miles long and nearly a mile wide along Alabama Highway 51 in Lee County, about 60 miles east of the state capital in Montgomery. The tornado was one of several reported on Sunday as a powerful storm system tore across parts of Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida, leaving more than 40,000 people without power.
