Charlie (Erika Henningsen) and Vaggie (Stephanie Beatriz) are the main couple of Hazbin Hotel, and the best moments between them showcase how strong their relationship is. It is Charlie’s dream to open a hotel where Hell’s Sinners can find redemption and go to Heaven, but Vaggie is just as much a part of its execution as Charlie. Charlie and Vaggie have a loving relationship of always supporting and encouraging each other, and it only becomes stronger during Hazbin Hotel season 1 after the revelation of Vaggie’s past. Admittedly, it sometimes seems like Vaggie is doing the most for Charlie.

Charlie is the leader of the main Hazbin Hotel characters and feels responsible for coming up with new plans, while Vaggie supports her logistically and emotionally. Beatriz believes that their storyline is about discovering that they deserve to be loved, especially for Vaggie: “This character doesn’t really, truly […] believe that she’s deserving of [Charlie] because it’s just so good,” says Beatrix (via YouTube). Yet Charlie believes in Vaggie more than anyone, and throughout the season, learns to appreciate Vaggie even more. Charlie and Vaggie’s individual and mutual arcs place them both among the best characters in Hazbin Hotel.

9 Vaggie Agrees To Let Sir Pentious Stay

Season 1, Episode 2: “Radio Killed The Video Star”

Sir Pentious and Angel in Hazbin Hotel

Charlie might have had the idea for the hotel and likely used whatever resources she has as the Princess of Hell to open it, but she and Vaggie are equals in running in. When Sir Pentious (Alex Brightman) arrives at the hotel, Charlie is ready to take him in, while Vaggie and Angel (Blake Roman) are skeptical about trusting him. Charlie makes a case for Pentious and Vaggie concedes; Charlie then runs over to scoop Vaggie into a hug, excitedly thanking her. It shows how, ultimately, Charlie would not have let Pentious move in without Vaggie’s approval.

8 Charlie Puts Vaggie In Charge Of Trust Exercises (& Then Apologizes For It)

Season 1, Episode 3: “Scrambled Eggs”

Charlie eagerly prompts Vaggie to lead the group in trust exercises. While Vaggie is overwhelmed with the task, Charlie wants to include Vaggie in the process of redeeming the hotel’s residents, and, of course, trusts Vaggie to do the job. In this scene, there is perhaps some disconnect between Charlie and Vaggie, but Charlie’s faith in Vaggie and excitement about her doing this is adorable. As it turns out, Vaggie’s teaching methods do help Angel, Sir Pentious, and Husk (Keith David) learn to trust each other.

However, Charlie can recognize that she put a lot of pressure on Vaggie by assigning her to trust exercises, whether she intended to or not. When Charlie sees that Vaggie is upset, she rushes to apologize and assures her that they work as a team. Vaggie feels like she must do everything for Charlie, but Charlie is still sensitive to Vaggie’s needs, even if this doesn’t come up too often since Vaggie is the more level-headed partner. Their ability to tune into each other’s strengths and weaknesses also makes them one of the overall best duos in Hazbin Hotel.

7 Vaggie & The Others Make A Commercial For The Hotel

Season 1, Episode 1: “Overture”

While Charlie is at her meeting with the angels, Vaggie is determined to make a better commercial for the hotel than the one Alastor (Amir Talai) has already produced. She finally convinces Alastor to actually help on the condition that she never makes him “engage with this frivolous television technology ever again.” Vaggie’s commitment to Charlie extends to doing superficial things like this and doing them well. Charlie is touched that everyone came together to make a new commercial, but she owes it all to Vaggie for making it come together.

6 Vaggie Holds Charlie’s Hand

Season 1, Episode 5: “Dad Beat Dad”

Charlie has mixed feelings about calling her father Lucifer (Jeremy Jordan) for help securing a meeting in Heaven. However, Vaggie is the one who convinces Charlie that they should try asking Lucifer for help. It shows how valuable Vaggie is since she can argue for utilizing their resources, while Charlie’s relationship with her dad makes it more complicated for her. However, while Charlie is talking to Lucifer on the phone, Vaggie is there and takes her hand for support. It is a simple, everyday gesture that helps Charlie take the next step to making the hotel a success.

5 Charlie Talks To Rosie About Vaggie

Season 1, Episode 7: “Hello Rosie!”

Charlie and Rosie talking about Vaggie in Hazbin Hotel

Rosie points out some simple truths: That Charlie “has never once doubted” that Vaggie loves her, and that everything Vaggie has done has been for the hotel.

Charlie is left reeling after finding out that Vaggie was an exorcist angel and never told her. While on a trip to Cannibal Town to recruit people to defend the hotel, Charlie has a surprisingly heartfelt conversation with Alastor’s friend Rosie (Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer) about Vaggie that helps her repair the relationship. Rosie points out some simple truths: That Charlie “has never once doubted” that Vaggie loves her, and that everything Vaggie has done has been for the hotel.

This is a great scene, not only because a surprisingly kind side character solves everything. Rosie highlights Hazbin Hotel’s main themes when she suggests that Vaggie “was trying to redeem herself” and that Charlie’s “silly hotel […] [is] all about redemption.” It is a well-written conversation that ties everything together with Charlie and Vaggie’s relationship and gives Charlie the push she needs, so she and Vaggie can stand together in the season finale and Hazbin Hotel season 2.

4 Vaggie Refuses To Help Adam

Season 1, Episode 6: “Welcome To Heaven”

Vaggie talking to Adam in Hazbin Hotel

When Vaggie arrives in Heaven with Charlie, Adam (Brightman) tries to blackmail her into destroying Charlie’s case, which Vaggie refuses. Vaggie looks uncomfortable for most of Charlie’s hearing with the angels; she awkwardly avoids answering when Adam asks her “what she thinks” about Angel partying; and when things fall apart, she tries to rush them out of there before Adam can tell Charlie the truth. However, Vaggie is true to her word and does not say anything that directly hurts Charlie’s case.

3 They Make Up After Charlie Finding Out That Vaggie Is An Angel

Season 1, Episode 7: “Hello Rosie!”

The moment where they reconcile after Charlie’s conversation with Rosie is devoid of dialogue but is perfect nonetheless. Neither of them says anything about what actually happened between them — Charlie just holds up a souvenir keychain she got for Vaggie in Cannibal Town. Vaggie tears up before running to hug Charlie, and that is that. Charlie and Vaggie are ultimately inseparable, and their reunion shows how natural they are together. Maybe later they will have a conversation about full disclosure going forward, but for now, they are just happy to be back together.

2 Charlie & Vaggie Together In Battle

Season 1, Episode 8: “The Show Must Go On”

Charlie and Vaggie fall into their usual dynamic during the final battle: Charlie is chipper and optimistic while Vaggie is focused on the task at hand. When Charlie is happy that Alastor’s shield is holding, Vaggie says she’s “Trying to focus sweetie.” When Charlie is hilariously apologizing to all the angels she attacks, Vaggie tells her: “Now’s not the time for that babe!” However, the Hazbin Hotel’s power couple gets a major aesthetic upgrade when Charlie summons Razzle and Dazzle, who transform into much larger beasts for Charlie and Vaggie to ride into battle, together as always.

1 They Sing “More Than Anything”

Season 1, Episode 8: “The Show Must Go On”

Charlie and Vaggie share a moment in Hazbin Hotel

The night before the final battle, Charlie and Vaggie sing a reprise of Charlie’s song with Lucifer, “More Than Anything.” It’s not the best song in Hazbin Hotel, and they will hopefully get more duets in the future, but it’s still a bittersweet, romantic moment. The most important lyrics are them both singing: “I love you more than anything.” The message could not be more direct, showing how Charlie and Vaggie work together as a team while loving each other deeply, making it one of their best moments in season 1 of Hazbin Hotel.
