2. VIP Club Exclusive Discounts

Throughout the year, DSW VIP rewards members get special, exclusive discounts, like 20% off. These can become available at any time. In 2023, we saw this offer at least four times, plus the DSW Friends & Family Sale in May, with 25% off a qualifying purchase.

3. Get 20% Off for Big Moments

VIP Members can take part in the DSW’s Big Moments program. It’s a chance to celebrate those important milestones in your life, like an engagement, wedding, meeting a wellness goal, getting a new job or a promotion, purchasing or moving to a new home, and or other celebratory milestones. You’ll receive a 20% off coupon.

To get your 20% off in-store, tell a DSW associate in a participating store. If shopping online, log in to your DSW VIP Rewards account to pick your moment.

4. Know the DSW Sale Schedule

DSW has way more sales than these, like BOGO 50%, but here are the major DSW sales to look for:

The Up to $60 Off Offer

This offer is the most common at DSW and can be found pretty much every month of the year. It’s always called something different and has a different offer code, but it’s still the same discount. You won’t ever pay full price at DSW again.

Veterans Day Sale

For Veterans Day in November, shoppers can save 25% off qualifying purchases, but members of the military get an extra 10% off their qualifying purchases. Last year, this sale started Nov. 9 and lasted until Nov. 12, 2023.

Black Friday Sale

Like most stores, Black Friday at DSW holds deep discounts, special offers and coveted styles from top brands. In 2023, Black Friday started early at DSW on Nov. 17 and lasted until Nov. 26. During that time, a sale on Nike popped up with 25% off select styles, up to 40% off select boots and the Big Brands Holiday Sale with up to 25% off Crocs, Dr. Martens and Timberland, to name a few. Plus, the savings only got better with a free gift with purchase and an extra 10% off. In 2024, Black Friday is on Nov. 29.

P.S. DSW is closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Cyber Monday

Picking up where Black Friday left off, the DSW Cyber Monday sale offered even more enticing discounts. Starting on Nov. 27 and lasting until “Cyber Tuesday” on Nov. 28 in 2023, online holiday shoppers were given 35% off and an extra 10% off, including select Ugg styles.

5. Shop DSW End-of-Season Clearance Sales

DSW has already marked down all the shoes for sale, so when you see the word “Clearance” in stores or online, skedaddle over to that section and check it out. In retail locations, you might see a big red sign screaming “CLEARANCE!” in the window (you can’t miss it).

Online, click on the red “Clearance” tab at the top of the homepage. The clearance section pool is much deeper online than in stores. You’ll see merch for up to 70% off — and discounted for as low as they can go. DSW lets you return unworn clearance items within 60 days of the original purchase date.

In stores, you’ll notice different colored tags. Purple tags mean a pair of shoes is up to 20% off, red means 20% to 30% off, blue means 30% to 50% off and green is 50% off or more. Full confession: As I was researching this post, I came across a pair of super cute Dolce Vita slip-on sneakers online for 50% off in Clearance, and they’re now sitting in my closet.

Look for the most savings during the fall clearance toward the end of October, summer clearance at the end of July, winter clearance at the beginning of January and first of June for spring.

6. Stack Your DSW Coupons

Word on the street is that DSW will let you stack coupons, too. You can use up to three coupons with your online order and even stack coupons on top of in-store sales. Read the fine print for exclusions and note that some coupons may be a one-time use.

7. Get a Free DSW Gift With Purchase

DSW frequently runs a gift-with-purchase special on their website, so it’s worth signing up for their e-newsletter or checking their site often if you hope to take advantage of a freebie opportunity. Recently, DSW was offering a free (and really cool) Reebok speaker with the purchase of any regular-priced Reebok footwear purchase and a free weekender bag with a $39.99 purchase. As if we need another excuse to add to our athleisure wear collection, but hey, we’ll take it.

8. Look for In-store Pickup Discounts

Especially around the holidays, DSW offers shoppers in-store pickup discounts on orders over $15. In-store pickup is available at most DSW retail locations.

Here’s how to place a DSW In-store pickup order:

When browsing DSW.com, filter by items available for pickup at your preferred store using the Shop My Store feature. Select your size.
Set your item for “pick up,” and is available at your selected store before you check out.
After placing your order, look for an email telling you your order is ready.
Head to the store and grab your order from the associate at the pickup counter. Take a valid form of ID with you.

9. Don’t Pay for DSW Returns

When you bring the items you want to return to a DSW location, you’ll receive a refund instantly without having to pay the shipping cost to return the item. Of course, when you’re a VIP Gold or Elite Member, returns are always free. For everyone else, use a DSW prepaid return label and the cost of return shipping is $8.50 and deducted from your refund. So if you buy an item online, save yourself $8.50 and return it to the nearest DSW store.

10. Even More DSW Savings Tips

$10 or $25 DSW Bonus Card

DSW will offer shoppers from time to time the chance to score a bonus card when they meet or exceed a specific spending threshold. The bonus cards give you an extra discount on a future purchase. The most recent was around the holidays last year: Earn $10 or $25 in Bonus Cards by spending $50 or $100 in a single transaction on gift cards.

When you sign up to receive the DSW e-newsletter in your inbox, you’ll receive a promo code for 10% off your first order. You’ll also be kept in the loop on new promotions, deals and steals happening in-store and online so that you can shop early before the shoes you want sell out, which invariably they will. DSW Shoe Repair Service

DSW can breathe new life into your old shoes and handbags when they look like they’re on their last leg. Just bring your broken soles and deteriorated heel caps to a participating location. You don’t need an appointment, and VIP members will earn points for repairs. You’ll also receive a free shoe shine with every repair service. Cobblers Direct for DSW is available in select stores.

DSW Return Policy

Items marked as “Final Sale” are just that — a 100% final sale. You can return everything else within 90 days of the original purchase date for any reason. However, items must be unworn and undamaged to receive a full refund. If you don’t have your receipt, you must have a valid ID to receive a merchandise credit equal to the current selling price of the item. You’ll receive merchandise credit for returns made after 90 days, even with a receipt.

DSW Exchange Policy

DSW lets you exchange merchandise when you want the same item in a different size or color for free. For anything else, you’ll have to follow the return process and place a new order. To exchange your item online, DSW ships the new exchanged item when the item you’re exchanging is dropped off at FedEx. You won’t be charged for shipping. Exchanges after 60 days are issued a merchandise credit for the difference (if any).

DSW Shoe Donation

DSW encourages you to donate shoes you no longer want to Soles4Souls, an organization that uses your gently used shoes for a good cause: fighting poverty. They have donated more than 5 million pairs of shoes since May 2018.

Here’s how to donate your shoes at DSW — and score reward points:

1. Bring your new or gently worn shoes to any DSW location.

2. Let a store associate know you’d like to donate, and add your shoes to the donation box.

3. The store associate will apply 50 points to your DSW VIP account.

Use the DSW App for Extra Rewards Points

Just like you can never have too many pairs of shoes, you can never have too many apps on your phone, right? Well, maybe. But if you are a frequent shoe shopper, then you will definitely want to add the DSW App to your home screen. P.S. You get 30 points just for downloading it and another 30 points for opting into notifications.

The DSW App boasts many cool features, including a Clearance Calculator that you can use while shopping in the store to see the exact price you’ll pay (and how much you’ll save!).
