Once you’ve signed up to be a Kohl’s Rewards member online or at a Kohl’s store, you start receiving benefits. The biggest perk is that every time you shop at Kohl’s in stores or online, you’ll earn 5% of the purchase amount back in the form of Kohl’s Cash. That’s $5 for every $100 spent. Conveniently, Kohl’s keeps track of your purchase history for you, and once you’ve earned $5 worth of Kohl’s Cash through your Kohl’s Rewards membership, Kohl’s will let you know via email.
Kohl’s Rewards members receive other perks on top of the 5% savings, such as a special birthday gift (usually a discount code just for you) and exclusive, members-only savings and deals.
What’s The Difference Between Kohl’s Cash and Kohl’s Rewards?
Kohl’s Cash is the currency you earn in the Kohl’s Rewards program. You can earn Kohl’s Cash without being in the rewards program, but the rewards program lets you earn more.
You’re probably already familiar with Kohl’s Cash, but to recap, at certain times of the year, Kohl’s runs special promos where you earn a $10 Kohl’s Cash coupon for every $50 you spend at Kohl’s online or in-person at a Kohl’s store. These special periods typically happen around once a month, and it’s easy to check to see if Kohl’s is running a Kohl’s Cash promo. You don’t need a rewards membership to score Kohl’s Cash. When you shop during the special period and spend at least $50, you’ll get a physical Kohl’s Cash certificate when you’re checking out in stores, and be sent your virtual Kohl’s Cash when you buy online at Kohls.com, through the Kohl’s app, or a Kohl’s Kiosk. Then there are select dates where you are allowed to spend your Kohl’s cash.
Kohl’s Rewards, meanwhile, gives members 5% of the purchase amount back in the form of Kohl’s Cash all the time, 365 days a year. You have to identify yourself as a Member to get credit for your purchase, which is easy enough. If you’re at a store, you can show the sales associate your digital membership card, or if you are a Kohl’s Card holder, use your Kohl’s credit card to pay for your purchase, or provide your phone number or email address associated with your account or tell them your Kohl’s Rewards ID Number. Once you’ve earned your Member reward and it’s in your account, you can spend it any time within the next 30 days.
Can You Earn Kohl’s Rewards and Kohl’s Cash At the Same Time?
Yes! The brand says that during the special Kohl’s Cash “Earn Events” periods, you can still earn $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent in addition to the Every Day Kohl’s Rewards that members earn. However, the retailer adds, “each time an Event Kohl’s Cash coupon is issued, the value of the coupon will only reflect Event Kohl’s Cash.”
How Do You Get Your Kohl’s Rewards After Purchase?
To get Kohl’s Cash during those special promotional periods, you need to spend a certain amount to get the benefits. On the other hand, no matter how much you spend at Kohl’s as a Kohl’s Rewards Member, you’ll always earn your 5% Kohl’s Rewards (again, year-round, not just on select dates). Those earnings will be added automatically to your Rewards balance within 48 hours of your purchase. Then, on the first of the following month, your Kohl’s Rewards balance is converted and issued in $5 Kohl’s Cash increments. You will receive your Kohl’s Rewards via email and if your Kohls.com account is linked to your Rewards account, your Kohl’s Cash will also be automatically stored in your Kohl’s Wallet. Those funds are valid for 30 days, after which if you don’t spend them, they expire.
How Do You Redeem Your Kohl’s Rewards Cash?
Your Kohl’s Rewards balance is converted and issued in $5 Kohl’s Cash increments on the first of the following month, and you have 30 days to spend your Rewards-issued Kohl’s Cash on anything* (with a few exceptions) in the store, online or via the Kohl’s App. Find your Rewards cash online in your Kohl’s wallet, so long as your Kohls.com account is linked to your Rewards account, or when you’re logged in to the app.
*Shoppers should be aware they cannot spend their Kohl’s Cash on Sephora at Kohl’s merchandise, on gift cards, to pay their Kohl’s Card bill or to pay for any services or fees, including taxes and shipping (read all the fine print here).
Where Do You Find Your Kohl’s Rewards Balance?
It appears on your printed receipts, you’ll get an email every time you get more Kohl’s Cash, or you can check your Rewards balance in the free Kohl’s app. In fact, you should download the Kohl’s app for a bunch of other reasons, too. The app stores your Kohl’s Cash and coupons so you can always access them, either online or in-store; you can pay in stores using the app and the app doubles as an in-store scanner so you can see what an item will cost after you’ve applied your coupons.
What Is the Kohl’s Birthday Reward?
Yes! Kohl’s Rewards members receive something special for their birthday. It’s typically extra savings or discounts but it can vary. To qualify for your Kohl’s birthday reward, you just need to make a purchase prior to you birthday month.

What Is the Difference Between a Kohl’s Credit Card and Kohl’s Rewards?
You do not need to be a Kohl’s Credit Card holder to be a Kohl’s Rewards member. However, Kohl’s cardholders do get extra benefits and savings when they use their card to shop at Kohl’s (including 7.5% back in Kohl’s Rewards on every purchase made with the card), and you can combine your Kohl’s Card discounts with Kohl’s Cash and Rewards to get even more bang for your buck.
What Happened to Kohl’s Yes2You Rewards?
Kohl’s ended this rewards program back in 2020 to create the current Kohl’s Rewards membership program instead. Anyone enrolled in the Yes2You Rewards program automatically had their membership moved over to the new, simplified Kohl’s Rewards program.
Does Kohl’s Accept Expired Yes2You Rewards?
No. Yes2You Rewards no longer exist. And, when they did, Yes2You Rewards were reusable for only one year after they were earned. Because Kohl’s ended its Yes2You Rewards program back in 2020, that ship has long since sailed.
