Alabama concert, seafood fest, museum tour


This week, the question is not “what is going on around St. Augustine?” The question is rather, “what is NOT going on around St. Augustine?” Festivals, music, art exhibits, the First Friday Art Walk and Concert, 5K runs – this is a week that you can choose from an array of entertainment options. To get you started, we’ll highlight some of the more noteworthy events.

Accord Civil Rights Museum tours

Take a free tour of the Civil Rights Museum this weekend.

The Accord Civil Rights Museum at 79 Bridge St. will be open on select Fridays and Saturdays through February 2023. Housed in a building that was originally the office of a dental surgeon, it was purchased by Dr. Robert B. Hayling, a dentist and civil rights leader in St. Augustine who met in his office with other leaders, including the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It was opened as a civil rights museum in 2014. Admission is free. The museum will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. 904-347-1382 or accordfreedomtrail.org

Pin Up Paws for ‘Dig It!’ 2023 Calendar

The party for the calendar reveal is Friday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m.

The St. Augustine Humane Society will host their 13th annual Pin Up Paws Party at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 at the Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel, 6 West Castillo Drive. This fundraiser reveal party will introduce the 2023 calendar, which features 13 local dogs in photos styled to look “groovy.” Purchase of a ticket includes dinner, a wine pull, a silent auction and live music. 904-829-2737, ext. 111, or staughumane.org

Alabama in concert

Alabama will give two concerts at The Amp this weekend.

The superstar country band, which got its start in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in the 1960s, will perform at two concerts, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5, at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340 A1A South. The band has 43 No. 1 hits, such as “Love in the First Degree,” “Tennessee River” and “My Home’s in Alabama,” just to name a few. 904-209-3758 or theamp.com

St. Augustine Seafood, Music and Art Festival

The St. Augustine Seafood, Music and Art Festival is scheduled for Saturday.

Live music, fresh seafood and art – what more could you ask for? Scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at 25 West Castillo Drive, the family-friendly event includes live entertainment, a kids’ area and an exhibition of creative works. Joe Satriani concert

Guitarist Joe Satriani will appear on stage Wednesday at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall.

Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is the place for this concert by legendary guitarist Joe Satriani at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 1050 A1A North, Ponte Vedra Beach. Satriani has performed for more than 35 years and his albums have sold more than 10 million copies to date.
